I just realized that my previous mail was too big.  So sorry!

First and foremost, happy summer everyone!  Hope you are all well and that you are enjoying the summer with your kiddos.  Here are a few pics of Kyle and Olivia having fun in the sprinkler in the backyard. (Nothing says summer here Seattle like bathing suits with rain galoshes ;)

We've had an interesting Spring.  Olivia was sick for most of the month of May and into June.  An ear infection she couldn't kick developed right when we got home from Florida. (We had a wonderful visit with the Manvilles -- it was so great to get the girls together.)  Then she developed a horrible staff infection in her diaper area.  Our worst fear came true -- the MRSA came back.  We've been on a 30 day treatment regimen that includes treating the whole family with topical antibiotic in our noses and daily medicinal baths for Olivia, among other minor daily cleaning rituals.  We will know in a few days if it all worked to rid her of this awful thing.

If you haven't already, you may want to have your daughters tested for MRSA.  Our pediatrician and the infectious disease control specialists here in Seattle are pretty convinced that all our girls are potential carriers.  We thought we licked it the first time around, but turns out it comes back in 50% of cases.  It is a very easy test that involves swabbing the nose with a qtip and culturing it.  As a matter of fact, our MD -- who has a v. large adoption medicine practice -- is now culturing every new patient that comes in from another country.

Despite all this, Olivia is thriving!  She is a happy, active, and otherwise healthy girl.  She is just a joy and a love and we are all having the time of our lives.  We are looking forward to seeing the Brandenbergs this weekend here in Seattle for the Thomas Train Days.  Can't wait to get Kyle, Kalen, Cai, and Olivia  all together.  Should be madcap good times!

We miss you all. Take good care!
Melissa (and David, Kyle, & Olivia)

Melissa,
Hey, as I always say, its not a real party til somebody puts on goulashes!! Love the pictures. I was wondering how Miss Olivia was doing. Glad to hear she's (hopefully) beat that disease for good. Looks like brother and sister have lots of fun together!
